From left to right- Big dog Princess, Brutis, Zamora. Zamora was the runt.  A little story on how we got these pups. A few months after Katrina Their mom who we named mama was found on our porch in slidell. We were rebuilding at the time.  Her belly was huge but she was skin and bones. You could count her ribs. So we brought her to the shelter to get checked out. She came back heartworm positive, it was one of the worst cases seem, surprised she was still alive. We feed that dog filet, liver, anything and everything she wanted. a few days later she gave birth to 13 puppy's, 6 naturally and 7   were c-section. She passed away 2 days after they were born. 12 came home to me and my mother  an hour after they were born. They were so tiny and sickly looking. The special attention they needed we broke them up into groups, the girls at the shelter said they would help out.
This is Niki, she showed up on our property as a puppy with a bad case of demodectic mange, and the pads of her feet were worn off. It had seemed like someone dumped her and she tried chasing the car. I rushed her to the vet hospital since it was memorial day weekend and got her fixed up. It was Months before the mange was completely gone and by that time we all put allot into her emotional. My mom ended up keeping her my brother Caleb cares for her and she is the best dog you could ask for.
Chloe, Zoe, and Zack
Their mom got hit by a car and they must have been in the pouch and the impact flew them out. I was driving by I don't know how long they were out there for but I saw their little eyes shining and stop and picked them up. This was a tough one for me because I knew they had to be released one day and they were attached to me, slowly get them away from human contact and putting them in outdoor enclosures getting them used to the environment. I miss them.

Can you belive she was smaller then that. She was the size of my thumb when I got her. She still thinks she can fit on my lap.

This is Farley my puddin pop! He has a sad story. About a year ago his owner who had him for 7 years brought him to the shelter because she was moving to another city and her new apartment would not allow pets. So this indicates to me that she thought he was disposable. She also made a comment about giving him all her calories. He weighed 24 pounds. He was huge!  So he was at the shelter for a couple months when i was volunteering I saw him and immediately fell in love with him.He had a sign on the cage that said not for adoption because he was showing signs of aggression. I would be showing aggression too if someone who I thought cared about me, dumped me at an unknown scary place. I petted him and he was fine with me, but at that time I was not able to bring another cat home. Well a month had passed and I got a call saying he was about to be put to sleep, I couldn't bare the thought of that so I  immediately came and picked him up. I only had him a few months before I noticed he started walking funny. This really upset me I didn't know what to think.  He was also drinking alot and urinating alot as well.I rushed him to the vet and he was diagnosed with diabetes. He read over 600 on the meter his first vet visit. We have been going every week , the second time he read 575 and week after 450. Its slowly getting down but then start to rise again. He is currently getting 2 insulin shots a day, but he still isn't regulated yet. Its been a tough road watching him go through this and not being able to fix it right away. He has lost alot of weight. He is down to 16 pounds and he can barley walk because its affecting his joints. He does not leave the bathroom where the litter box and cat food is because he can't walk right. We have wood floors and when he does come out you can hear his bones hit the floor when he walks. He also is not able to get on the couch because he can't jump like a normal cat.  The vet says there's a chance his walking won't improve. Which I hope that's not the case, I want him to live a normal kitty life again. This is all because his previous owner thought it was funny to get him fat and feed him human food.  I want people to know his story so they don't put their animals threw this horrible disease farley is battling. With humans you can at least explain what's going on to them, but with animals they don't understand why this is happening to them. Alot of people tell me they couldn't do what I'm doing with Farley, With the 2 shots a day and I tell them, every morning I look in his big green eyes its worth every second and every penny I have to keep him alive. My fiancee who was a dog person now has an appreciation for cats. Its really opened up his eyes. He will carry farley from the bathroom to the living room because he can't stand seeing him in there all alone and not able to get to the living on his own. For anyone who thinks its to hard or think they can't care for an animal that needs alot of special attention, you can ! If it were a child we wouldn't; be having this conversation but animals are a different story. People just don't want to put forth the effort. Its manageable and rewarding seeing what you can do for another living and breathing thing. And having the support of Josh has made it even more possible to care for farley =)

This is Tillie.... She is dressed up in her winter outfit  in the pic. She is the newest in the family. She is 7 years old. A rescue group found her as a stray, she was not spayed and in poor condition. I nursed her back to health. After a little medication and a good diet she is looking great! She is my spoiled rotten baby =)

Update: Farley is doing great...He is moving around the house and jumping on the sofa...YAY!  He has put the weight back on and now we are working with him to get more exercise to keep him healthy. He still gets his insulin twice a day, but he is now a happy cat, which makes me soooooo happy. =)
We took 4 and the rest got separated into groups until they got strong enough to come back to us. unfortunately our group was the only ones that survived. Zamora was the hardest she was touch and go for awhile there were times I   wouldn't sleep just so I knew she was still breathing. She had problems going from milk to can food, she would have really bad tummy aches and wake up screaming so I would stay up all night with her holding her until she settled down. She was my miracle baby. Brutis is still in the family my parents have him, he lives in slidell on the bayou, so when we go to visit Zamora gets to play with her brother and they go swimming. As far as Big Dog and Princess they both got adopted out.
Mocha and scout are brother and sister and soooo cute with each other. When we go for walks they are always side by side. They love to bark at birds and squirrels. Scout also likes to steal mochas toys sometimes and then do a victory dance in front of her...Its hilarious.
This is Layla, Peanut, Brooklyn and Gizmo.  I have so much fun with them. After I walk Layla and Peanut who are the chiwawas, we end our walk with a cookie. And when I get in the house I say "COOKIE TIME" and the kittys come running. Also Layla and Peanut are Tillies best friends. She loves when they come over to play =)
This is my sweet casey! Her mommy also rescued her. She is the only child and is spoiled rotten =)  The pic with her and the bone was taken Thanksgiving  09' when I was pet sitting. Me and her mom decided to give it to her that day as a thanksgiving day treat. She looooves her treats...she has a whole counter top dedicated to her treats. I walk her 5 times a week.
This is "The Crew".......These pups are some of the funniest dogs I have. Creole who I call baby is like a bulldozer when you come in the house he just wants play =)  Maxine is the lil girl of the house, I call her smiles cause she always looks like she is smiling. My nickname for Deuss is "kicks".....He is always kicking up dirt.....He is a sweet heart.
These are "The Boys" ...Moped,Scooter, and Vespa. They are the 3 most loving dogs. They make me laugh. They love there treats and their walks. Moped and Vespa are always keeping me on my toes....They like to pick up things. Scooter is never in a hurry he likes to take his time on our walks =)
This is miss Abbie and her sister Angel. These two are spoiled rotten girls and know it =) Abbie looooves her walks. She likes to stop and smell the roses...she's in no rush and then  when we get back to the house Angel is waiting at the door...TOO CUTE!  And she will play with Abbies leash while we walk in. Then we go straight to the kitchen and get their treats. Look at those faces....you can't say no to that.
